COVID-19
- COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. It spreads when an infected person breathes out droplets and very small particles that contain the virus.
- COVID-19 vaccines are effective and safe. Mild side effects after a COVID-19 vaccine are common.
Influenza (Flu)
- The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs.
- The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months & older.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
- HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. It is spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact.
- It is recommended to get vaccinated at age 9 in both boys and girls. If not already vaccinated, the CDC recommends vaccination through age 26.
Meningococcal
- Meningococcal disease refers to any illness caused by bacteria called Neisseria meningitidis.
- College students are at a higher risk for contracting this disease.
- The CDC recommends meningococcal vaccination for all preteens and teens.
